THE WORLD SPORT JIU-JITSU FEDERATION (WSJJF)

PREAMBLE

The World Sport Jiu Jitsu Federation (WSJJF) is established as an independent international sports organization dedicated to the promotion, development, education, and governance of Sport Jiu Jitsu throughout the world. The Federation is committed to fostering friendship, respect, discipline, equality, and excellence among all practitioners while encouraging international cooperation through sport.


ARTICLE 1 – NAME

The official name of the organization shall be the World Sport Jiu Jitsu Federation (WSJJF).


ARTICLE 2 – LEGAL STATUS

The WSJJF is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit international sports federation operating under its Constitution, Statutes, Rules, and Regulations and in accordance with applicable laws where it is registered.


ARTICLE 3 – OBJECTIVES

The objectives of WSJJF are:

  1. To promote Sport Jiu Jitsu worldwide.
  2. To establish international standards for competitions.
  3. To organize World, Continental, Regional, and National Championships.
  4. To educate coaches, referees, instructors, and officials.
  5. To promote youth participation and athlete development.
  6. To encourage friendship, peace, and cultural understanding through sport.
  7. To cooperate with national and international sports organizations.

ARTICLE 4 – PRINCIPLES

WSJJF shall operate according to the principles of:

  • Sportsmanship

ARTICLE 5 – FOUNDER

The Federation recognizes Philosopher Super Grandmaster King Mohammdullah Omar Iman Dost as the Founder and Founding President of the World Sport Jiu Jitsu Federation (WSJJF). This recognition is honorary and forms part of the official history of the Federation.


ARTICLE 6 – MEMBERSHIP

Membership may include:

  • National Jiu Jitsu Federations
  • Continental Federations
  • Regional Organizations
  • Clubs and Academies
  • Individual Members
  • Honorary Members
  • Associate Members

Members shall respect and comply with the Statutes, Regulations, and Code of Ethics of WSJJF.


ARTICLE 7 – GOVERNING BODIES

The governing bodies shall consist of:

  • General Assembly
  • President
  • Executive Board
  • Secretary General
  • Technical Committee
  • Referee Commission
  • Athletes Commission
  • Women’s Commission
  • Medical and Safety Commission
  • Ethics and Disciplinary Commission
  • Finance and Audit Committee

Additional committees may be established as required.


ARTICLE 8 – THE PRESIDENT

The President shall:

  • Represent WSJJF internationally.
  • Preside over all official meetings.
  • Implement decisions of the General Assembly.
  • Supervise the Executive Board.
  • Promote the development of Sport Jiu Jitsu worldwide.
  • Protect the values and interests of the Federation.

ARTICLE 9 – GENERAL ASSEMBLY

The General Assembly is the highest authority of WSJJF.

Its powers include:

  • Electing officers.
  • Approving amendments.
  • Approving financial reports.
  • Admitting and suspending members.
  • Approving strategic plans.
  • Deciding matters concerning the future of the Federation.

ARTICLE 10 – EXECUTIVE BOARD

The Executive Board shall:

  • Manage the daily affairs of WSJJF.
  • Prepare annual budgets.
  • Organize international events.
  • Implement Assembly decisions.
  • Supervise committees.

ARTICLE 11 – COMPETITIONS

WSJJF shall sanction:

  • World Championships
  • Continental Championships
  • International Open Championships
  • National Championships
  • Youth Championships
  • Masters Championships
  • Para Jiu Jitsu Championships
  • Referee and Coaching Courses

ARTICLE 12 – ATHLETES

Every athlete has the right to:

  • Equal opportunity.
  • Fair competition.
  • Safe participation.
  • Respect and dignity.
  • Protection from discrimination and harassment.

Athletes shall respect competition rules and the Code of Ethics.


ARTICLE 13 – ETHICS

All members shall:

  • Respect opponents and officials.
  • Reject corruption and match manipulation.
  • Oppose doping.
  • Promote honesty and integrity.
  • Protect children and vulnerable persons.
  • Uphold the spirit of martial arts.

ARTICLE 14 – FINANCE

Federation income may include:

  • Membership fees
  • Event revenues
  • Sponsorships
  • Donations
  • Grants
  • Licensing
  • Educational programs
  • Merchandise

Annual financial statements shall be prepared and independently audited where required by law.


ARTICLE 15 – OFFICIAL LANGUAGE

The official language of WSJJF shall be English.

Additional official languages may be recognized by the General Assembly.


ARTICLE 16 – DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES

The Ethics and Disciplinary Commission shall investigate violations of the Statutes, Code of Ethics, and competition rules.

Sanctions may include:

  • Warning
  • Fine
  • Suspension
  • Expulsion
  • Other appropriate disciplinary measures

Members shall have the right to be heard before disciplinary decisions are made.


ARTICLE 17 – AMENDMENTS

These Statutes may be amended only by a two-thirds majority vote of the General Assembly.


ARTICLE 18 – DISSOLUTION

The Federation may only be dissolved by a three-quarters majority vote of the General Assembly in accordance with applicable law.


ARTICLE 19 – ENTRY INTO FORCE

These Statutes shall enter into force immediately upon their adoption by the Founding General Assembly of the World Sport Jiu Jitsu Federation (WSJJF).
