STATUTE OF THE WORLD BADMINTON FEDERATION (WBF)

Article 1 – Name

The name of the organization shall be the World Badminton Federation (WBF).

Article 2 – Legal Status

1. The WBF is an independent, non-profit international sports federation.
2. The WBF shall operate in accordance with applicable laws of its country of registration and these Statutes.
3. The WBF shall remain politically and religiously neutral.

Article 3 – Headquarters

1. The headquarters of the WBF shall be determined by the General Assembly.
2. The Executive Board may establish regional offices where necessary.

Article 4 – Objectives

The objectives of the WBF are:
a. To promote badminton worldwide.
b. To organize international badminton competitions.
c. To establish and enforce the official Laws of Badminton.
d. To encourage fair play, integrity, inclusion, and equality.
e. To support athlete development, coaching, officiating, and sports science.
f. To combat doping, corruption, discrimination, and match manipulation.

Article 5 – Membership

Membership shall consist of:

1. National Member Federations.
2. Associate Members.
3. Continental Confederations.
4. Honorary Members.

Each country shall normally have one recognized National Member Federation.

Article 6 – Rights of Members

Members have the right to:

1. Participate in the General Assembly.
2. Vote according to these Statutes.
3. Submit proposals.
4. Participate in WBF competitions.
5. Receive development assistance.

Article 7 – Obligations of Members

Members shall:

1. Observe these Statutes.
2. Respect WBF regulations.
3. Promote ethical conduct.
4. Pay annual membership fees.
5. Submit accurate organizational information.

Article 8 – Organs of the WBF

The governing bodies of the WBF are:

1. General Assembly.
2. Executive Board.
3. President.
4. Standing Committees.
5. Judicial and Ethics Bodies.
6. Independent Auditors.

Article 9 – General Assembly

1. The General Assembly is the supreme governing body.
2. It shall meet annually.
3. Extraordinary meetings may be convened when required.
4. Responsibilities include:
   • Electing officers.
   • Approving budgets.
   • Approving amendments.
   • Admitting or suspending members.
   • Determining strategic direction.

Article 10 – Executive Board

The Executive Board shall consist of:

• President
• First Vice President
• Vice Presidents
• Secretary General
• Treasurer
• Additional elected Board Members

The Board shall oversee administration between General Assemblies.

Article 11 – President

The President shall:

1. Represent the WBF.
2. Preside over meetings.
3. Ensure implementation of decisions.
4. Exercise emergency authority when necessary, subject to Board review.

Article 12 – Committees

Standing Committees may include:

• Competition Committee
• Technical Committee
• Development Committee
• Coaching Committee
• Officiating Committee
• Athletes’ Commission
• Medical Committee
• Ethics Committee
• Para Badminton Committee

Article 13 – Elections

1. Elections shall be conducted by secret ballot unless otherwise decided.
2. Officers shall serve four-year terms.
3. Officers may serve a maximum of three consecutive terms unless otherwise approved by the General Assembly.

Article 14 – Finance

Income may include:

• Membership fees
• Sponsorship
• Broadcasting rights
• Event revenues
• Donations
• Grants

Annual financial statements shall be independently audited.

Article 15 – Ethics

The WBF shall uphold:

• Integrity
• Transparency
• Good governance
• Equality
• Safeguarding
• Anti-corruption measures
• Conflict of interest policies

Article 16 – Anti-Doping

The WBF shall adopt and enforce anti-doping rules consistent with internationally recognized standards.

Article 17 – Dispute Resolution

Disputes arising under these Statutes shall first be addressed through internal procedures. Appeals may be referred to an independent sports arbitration body designated by the General Assembly.

Article 18 – Amendments

1. Amendments require a two-thirds majority of votes cast at the General Assembly.
2. Proposed amendments must be circulated to members at least sixty (60) days before the meeting.

Article 19 – Dissolution

The WBF may only be dissolved by a three-quarters majority of the General Assembly. Upon dissolution, remaining assets shall be transferred to another non-profit organization with similar sporting objectives.

Article 20 – Entry into Force

These Statutes shall enter into force immediately upon their adoption by the Founding General Assembly of the World Badminton Federation.
